In May 1944 Yitzhak was enlisted in a forced labor unit. In September the unit was transferred to Budapest and he contacted members of the movement who were underground activists.
Yitzhak escaped from the labor unit and arrived at the “Glass House” on Vadász Street. He joined a unit called “Personal Sacrifice” under the leadership of Alexander Nathan. This unit’s role was to protect the house from the Arrow Cross hooligans. Each member of the unit had his own personal firearm. In the end though there was no need for any armed confrontation. Within the framework of the movement Yitzhak helped organize groups of Jewish orphaned children and took care of them.
Even after the liberation in January 1945 Yitzhak continued to work with the children until 1948 and brought them to Israel. He served as the general secretary of the movement.
Yitzhak made aliya within the framework of a group of volunteers in the Haganah. He is a member of Kibbutz Cabri.
